Eyes flashing, forehead creased, she stomped through the house, filling the space with her enormous attitude.
‘But why? Why us and why now? I’m not going to be able to cope! I’m stressed out enough as it is driving here! I don’t need another complication in my day!’
The parking space. Living in a condominium of over 200 apartments, the architects design for parking required the cars to share a space. After two years of living without the space behind being occupied, a new owner had moved in and now the space would be shared. With a busy afternoon schedule, of school pickups and sporting activities, life would be complicated further with having to constantly coordinate with the owner of the new car space, who had her own particular schedule.
He looks at her with disappointed eyes. ‘Don’t worry, it’ll be ok, it’ll work out.’
Little ears listen, swamped by the attitude. A letter appears on her desk.
‘Dear Mummy, I know you’re stressed about the parking spot and all, but it will all be ok. Maybe there is a reason for it, God wanted us to come to Peru for a reason so maybe we should wait and see what happens.
‘I know you said that the best thing was if we had the spot to ourselves but… maybe not. It’s like when we came to Peru, I thought the best thing to do was to never have come, but I met a ton of friends.
‘I hope this helped and if you need anything, I’m right here 😊. Love Elly’
That darling child! The attitude melted. The attitude changed. Her faith grew, it would be ok. It’s not always easy or convenient, but she perseveres.
She made a new friend with the car owner and she is a joy!
‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.’ James 1:2-4
