The interview was coming up and she didn’t have a clue what to wear. Her first interview in well over 20 years. To say she was nervous was a serious understatement.
She rang a dear friend with experience and knowledge who carved out half an hour of her time. Pure gold. From what to expect, how to answer, to breaking the ice and her warm encouragement, she now held keys and tools and much needed assurance.
Now, she needed something to wear. She took her girls and found an outfit. Something that reflected her, was soft, yet professional, put together, yet slightly creative and out of the norm.
The day arrived and she looked at her new clothes laid out on the bed. She was stepping into something new. She took a deep breath, and, on the exhale, she smiled. A warmth filled her being as she realised that all she needed to dress herself in, was Him.
‘Jesus, I put on YOU!’ she said. ‘I choose to put on your love, your joy and peace. That’s what I want the panel to see most.’
She stepped out the door with a thumping heart, with a smile and a confidence not her own. She held the gold from her friend in her heart and mind, the love of her family wrapped warm around her. She stepped out in her new clothes, yet she was clothed in something ageless and eternal. She stepped into something new.
For Reflection: What are you putting on today? How can you be dressing yourself with more than a cute outfit?
