She stood on the edge of the cliff looking out to a sea shrouded in mist. She likes to see the horizon, have a clear view, know what’s coming. She likes to plan, have things in order. She likes lists and to be able to check things off.
And as they leave this land and enter a new one, she knows that there are many unknowns, she can’t see clearly, things are certainly not mapped out and ordered.
Her eyes are drawn to that thick mist. I’m here, she hears.
She thinks of her Jesus walking on that water, walking in that mist, that storm, those waves. He knew, He knows.
On the other side of the ocean with a jetlagged mist filled head, she steps of that cliff into something new. Her eyes fixed on His face, she walks out onto the mist filled water and although she cannot see the horizon, she trusts that He can and that He’ll lead her through.
Joy bubbles up like a fizzy drink inside her. Joy and gratitude for all that’s past and all that’s behind her. Joy for the days to come and for all the unseen future holds. Joy, because He’s there, and wherever He is, she wants to be. Whether that means storms, or calm, or shrouded horizons.
So true and appropriate for today! Thank you
